Feds deploy oil sands scientists

The government is deploying scientists to study the industry behind the Alberta oil sands, and are partnering with the Alberta government, Postmedia News reported. Environment Minister Peter Kent said they were being sent on the advice of the scientific community, and would result in a better understanding of the long-term effects of oil sands development. An earlier Postmedia report highlighted an Environment Canada report backing results from a University of Alberta study showing contaminated snow near developments in the oil sands.
